Alert - New Hear Here! Dance Commission
Over summer 2009, Hear Here! focused on Sound Connections? - the evolving relationship between our eyes and our ears. How does vision influence the way we listen and how are technological advances in media changing the way we appreciate and sense music?
To explore this area, Hear Here! commissioned a new collaborative work from the choreographer Richard Alston, composer Claudia Molitor and filmmaker Deborah May. Entitled Alert, this new work took the sense of listening as its starting point, investigating the relationships between the visual and aural senses of dance and music.
The first stage of Alert was premiered by the Richard Alston Dance Company at their London home, The Place, on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 June followed by a period of development and filming.
